Summer’s on the way, bringing sunshine, vacation plans, and yes… a few buzzing visitors too. Mosquito season has arrived, and the City is here to help protect your health while keeping our environment in mind.
As you may know, we’ve launched a Mosquito Spray Study to evaluate how effective different spray frequencies are in controlling the mosquito population in our City. The goal is to use this data to strengthen our mosquito management program, reduce unnecessary pesticide use, and make informed decisions in the future.
As part of this temporary study, neighborhoods have been randomly assigned to rotate weekly through different spray frequencies. Each week, participating areas follow one of the following treatment schedules:
- No spray (control)
- One spray per week
- Two sprays per week
This rotating level of frequencies in spraying allows us to evaluate the effectiveness of each approach across different neighborhoods and weeks.
For neighborhoods not included in the study, mosquito spraying will continue Friday nights after 9:00 PM. Please note: we are not accepting requests for additional spraying at this time.
Thanks for helping us move toward a smarter, more sustainable mosquito control program. We appreciate your patience as we work to keep Sugar Land safe and comfortable this season!
