Animal Advisory Board
The Animal Advisory Board is a resident-led board established in accordance with state law to advise the City of Sugar Land on matters related to animal welfare and control. The board reviews and recommends procedures for the care and maintenance of shelter facilities and impounded animals, evaluates existing programs and ordinances, and provides guidance on long-term planning for animal services in the community.

Building Standards Commission
The Building Standards Commission is a quasi-judicial panel established by the Sugar Land City Council to advise on matters related to building construction and property maintenance. Members are qualified by experience and training to review and decide issues regarding property maintenance codes, within the authorities granted by state statute.

Music Advisory Board
The Music Advisory Board is a dynamic new initiative dedicated to making Sugar Land a hub for music lovers and creators alike. Comprised of passionate community members and industry experts, this board is here to guide, inspire, and amplify the role of music in our city’s cultural landscape.

Parks, Art, Recreation, Culture, and Streetscapes (PARCS) Board
The PARCS Board consists of nine residents of the city appointed to serve a one-year term that provide input, feedback and advice on projects and programs to enrich the visual and aesthetic environment of the City and to advise on other matters relating to long term goals and objectives for parks, recreation and cultural activities, streetscape and urban forestry programs, to ensure an environment where all citizens could share and enjoy the full diversity and vitality.

Planning & Zoning Commission
The Planning and Zoning Commission advises the City of Sugar Land on land use, planning, and development matters. The commission reviews and makes recommendations on subdivision plats, zoning regulations and map changes, master plans, and the city’s five-year capital improvements plan. Its work ensures orderly development and protects the general welfare and interests of the community in accordance with state law and city ordinances.

Sugar Land Legacy Foundation
The Sugar Land Legacy Foundation is a private non-profit organization established in 2010 to create a vehicle for sustainable charitable and planned donations for parks and civic facilities in Sugar Land. Contributions to the Legacy Foundation will support the City of Sugar Land’s acquisition, ownership, construction, development, improvement, operation and/or maintenance of land and facilities.

Zoning Board of Adjustment
The Zoning Board of Adjustment advises the City of Sugar Land on matters related to zoning and land use.
