A Planning & Zoning Commission public hearing will be held November 14, 2023 at Sugar Land City Hall to discuss the necessary steps to prepare the proposed Lake Pointe Redevelopment District for a new zoning code to encourage the redevelopment of Lake Pointe Plaza, currently home to Fluor. When Fluor relocates from its existing campus in mid-2024, they will leave behind an incredible redevelopment opportunity for the future of Sugar Land.
The Planning & Zoning Commission had its second of two workshops on October 26. The goal of the workshop was to discuss the necessary steps to prepare Lake Pointe for redevelopment, including a Land Use Plan amendment, Development Code amendment, property rezoning, and a Redevelopment Concept Plan. During the November 14 public hearing, P&Z will be taking action on multiple items related to Lake Pointe Plaza. Instead of conducting three separate public hearings (one for each item), there will be one consolidated hearing for all of them to mitigate confusion. Members of the public are invited to provide comments on one or more of the three action items during the public hearing. It is expected that the Planning & Zoning Chair will extend the public comment time from three to five minutes per person to accommodate those who want to speak on multiple items.
