The announcement of the Sugar Land Jazz Fest builds on recent momentum to establish the city as a regional destination for outdoor entertainment.
Sugar Land’s tourism division, Visit Sugar Land, partnered with Spectrum Concessions to bring the festival to The Crown Festival Park at Sugar Land, 18355 Southwest Freeway, from May 11-12.
The event builds historic milestones for outdoor entertainment in Sugar Land, including the two-day Honeyland Festival expected to attract 20,000 people per day this weekend. The events mark the largest multi-day music festival in the history of Sugar Land.
The Sugar Land Jazz Fest will feature a wide range of smooth jazz artists for all music enthusiasts to enjoy. In addition to great jazz music, attendees will be able to pair global cuisine with refreshing cocktails. Check out the lineup here.
“This is an exciting time for our city,” said Director of Economic Development Elizabeth Huff. “These events mark our continued evolution into a regional attraction. And it didn’t happen by accident. It was a vision identified by our community long ago, and we continue to deliver on the promise we made to our residents to offer new and exiting cultural and entertainment options and expand tourism to keep our economy strong.”
“We are thrilled to showcase the many unique attractions in our city’s growing Arts and Entertainment District. We boasts a global food scene that rivals cities three times its size and we have a number of attractions within a short distance, including Sugar Land Town Square, a world-class baseball park, several museums and the Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land — one of the nation’s top ranked entertainment venues.”
A citizen-led Visioning Task Force identified the need for a venue like The Crown Festival Park at Sugar Land years ago, citing its importance to Sugar Land’s quality of life and economic prosperity. Voters affirmed their support of the project in 2013.
A focus on tourism and commercial sources to reduce the property tax burden on homeowners has been a key to maintaining one of the state’s lowest property tax rates and providing the high level of services residents expect.
