Come one, come all to the latest back-to-school event on Friday, September 20: Park(ing) Day! Park(ing) Day is an annual, international event that encourages one to think outside the box –literally — and push the community to envision underutilized parking spaces as something other than parking. Think spaces like small shops, dog parks, libraries, restaurants, fitness classes, and art installations!
Sugar Land is hosting its own Park(ing) Day right in our sweet city. Join us Friday, September 20 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Town Square Parking Lot next to City Hall and envision what can be done in spaces like this! Sign up to participate in this once-a-year event and let your your imagination run wild.
How can my business or organization get involved?
Businesses have the unique opportunity to showcase their specialties and engage with the community by setting up shop in reserved parking spaces for the day. There is no theme for Park(ing) Day, the sky’s the limit!
Keep in mind that your group will be responsible for all set up and tear down of your “park.” Can’t wait to sign up? Request a parking spot for your business:https://www.sugarlandtx.gov/FormCenter/Planning-8/Parking-Space-Request-Form-Vendor-210
*Please reserve your spot no later than September 6th, 2024*
Is there a competition?
This is your time to shine! Unleash your creativity with a light-hearted competition on your parklet designs! You can finally pursue your dream of opening your own café or set up a cozy New York style apartment to see if the city life is actually for you.
Are there sponsorship opportunities?
Can’t make it to the event but still want to show up and show out for your community? We got you covered! There are customizable sponsorship opportunities available. For more information about sponsorship opportunities, contact Laura Waller at lwaller@sugarlandtx.gov or 281-275-2708.
