The City of Sugar Land is officially starting its strategic planning process to develop a roadmap for the City’s future. Led by the City’s Strategic & Government Affairs department, the process will help develop Sugar Land’s Strategic Action Plan for 2025-2027. The results of this process will serve as a guide for decision-making and how to allocate resources prioritize projects that enhance the quality of life for our residents, businesses and employees.
Sugar Land currently has eight strategic outcome areas created to support a bold vision for the next generation of Sugar Landers. These areas include strong and viable finance, a safe and secure community, a thriving and vibrant economy, a dynamic and fun culture, a respected and influential government, connect and convenient transportation, sustainable and resilient infrastructure and a welcoming and engaged community.
That’s where we need your help: This year’s process will focus on extensive research and community engagement to ensure alignment with the City’s vision while progressing current strategic outcome areas and all-in initiatives to anticipate future trends. With a collaborative approach, the City aims to engage with key stakeholders in our community to produce a strategic plan that reflects various perspectives and priorities.
Your voice is key to shaping the vision for Sugar Land’s future, so we want to hear from you, too! Be sure to take our Stakeholder Survey, which asks a series of high-level questions to access what’s important to you in terms of Sugar Land’s future. The survey is 15 questions and takes about 10 minutes to complete. Ten minutes of your time could be the difference between having a voice in Sugar Land’s future or not. The survey is live now through November 15.
Two think tank sessions with residents were held at the T.E. Harman Senior Center on September 5 and 7 to discuss key drivers and craft plausible scenarios for Sugar Land’s future until 2035, but as we progress to the next phases of our strategic planning efforts, we would like to invite you to attend a community update session on Thursday, October 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Sugar Land City Hall to hear about our progress and next steps.
We look forward to embarking on this collaborative journey to becoming a more ambitious, innovative, and trailblazing city!
