The Sugar Land Police Department has announced its first female traffic and motorcycle officer.
Officer Elizabeth Reyes has been with SLPD for five years as a member of the Patrol division. In April 2021, the Sugar Land Police Department had an opening for a Traffic and Motorcycle Officer and Officer Reyes applied. She then went through a thorough selection process, a limited skills proficiency test that included lifting the bike from laying on its’ side followed by a competitive interview process.
Officer Reyes is the first female officer assigned to the traffic division in the history of the Sugar Land Police Department. Following her selection, she has begun a detailed training program where she must continue to demonstrate specific motor skills such as sharp turning maneuvers and other advance level motor skills.
Thank you, Officer Reyes, for helping make Sugar Land one of the safest cities in America!
