The Sugar Land Police Department has announced its first female traffic and motorcycle officer.
Officer Elizabeth Reyes has been with SLPD for five years as a member of the Patrol division. In April 2021, the Sugar Land Police Department had an opening for a Traffic and Motorcycle Officer and Officer Reyes applied. She then went through a thorough selection process, a limited skills proficiency test that included lifting the bike from laying on its’ side followed by a competitive interview process.
Officer Reyes is the first female officer assigned to the traffic division in the history of the Sugar Land Police Department. Following her selection, she has begun a detailed training program where she must continue to demonstrate specific motor skills such as sharp turning maneuvers and other advance level motor skills.
