Here’s who is going to be on your Sugar Land ballot in May

Before you head to the polls for the City of Sugar Land’s May 7, 2022 election, be sure you are registered to vote and informed on the candidates!

To register to vote, you can contact the Fort Bend County Elections Administration to have a voter registration card mailed to you or register online at https://vrapp.sos.state.tx.us/index.asp.  You may also find voter registration cards at the front desk of Sugar Land City Hall.

Early voting dates are April 25, 2022 – May 3, 2022, and Election Day is May 7, 2022. For more information on the election, including voting sites, visit www.sugarlandtx.gov/elections.

Mayor

Joe R. Zimmerman
Occupation: Engineering
Years in City: 32 years

Biography: Mayor Zimmerman was elected the 10th Mayor of Sugar Land on June 11, 2016 after serving four years as the At-Large, Position 2, City Councilman. He is currently running for his fourth and final term as Mayor. He serves on the Economic Development, Intergovernmental Relations, Compensation, and Finance & Audit Committees and is the COSL representative on the HGAC Board and Transportation Policy Council. Prior to being elected to City Council, he was a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission for eight years, serving six years as Chairman.

Mr. Zimmerman is a Senior Consultant for Halff Associates, Inc., a Texas-based civil engineering consulting firm founded in 1950.  He has extensive business experience, having served in senior management positions in a number of different industries.

Mr. Zimmerman earned his BSCE from UH, an MBA from Houston Baptist University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.  He and his wife of almost 46 years, Nancy, have lived in Sugar Land since 1990 and are active members of Second Baptist Church Woodway.  Their daughter, Allison, her husband Chris Wallace, granddaughter Emmy and grandson Campbell live in Houston. 

At-Large Position 1

William Ferguson
Occupation: Sales

Larry Lobue
Occupation: Regional Sales Manager
Years in City: 2 years, 10 months

Biography: Larry Lobue is a 36-year resident of Ft Bend, married, father of two with one grandson. As an avid community leader in Sugar Land, he is known for his civic, charity, and community involvement. He is Chairman of The Arc of Ft Bend, coach, and Head of Delegation Ft Bend Special Olympics, serves on the Advisory Board for Hope 4 Three, Board President of First Colony Little League Challenger Division, serves on Sugar Land Independent Ethics Review Board, and Houston Metro Go Texan Committee Ft Bend. With his vast business knowledge and extensive community involvement, he brings a unique perspective and experience to Sugar Land.
