Help Sugar Land stay water wise with these tips

We’re still in a Stage 1 Drought and need your help to be water wise, Sugar Land! Here are some ways you can contribute.

Stick to watering your lawn twice a week

If the last digit of your street address ends in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6, or 8), water your lawns on Mondays and Thursdays. If the last digit of your street address ends in an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7, or 9), we suggest watering on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The timing of your watering makes a difference, too! If you like to water in the mornings, be sure do it between midnight and 10 a.m. More of a night waterer? Set your system to water between 8 p.m. and midnight.

Participate in our Irrigation Evaluation Program

We’ve partnered with licensed irrgators to provide you a free residential irrigation system evaluation! This is a great way to help residents identify if they have any system inefficiencies (like water leaks) that could contribute to high water consumption and high water bills. Purchase a smart irrigation controller

Take the guesswork out of watering your lawn by purchasing a smart irrigation controller! The City of Sugar Land offers a discounted Smart Irrigation Controller to Sugar Land Residents, at either $69.99 (retails at $149.99) for a four-zone controller, $99.99 (retails at $199.99) for an eight-zone controller, or $119.99 (retails at $249.99) for a 16-zone controller. The smart irrigation controller allows you to access your system settings through your smart phone and you can automatically adjust your watering schedule based on your yard’s needs. With features like rain skip, wind skip, freeze skip, saturation skip, and seasonal shift, your smart controller will maximize schedule efficiency for worry-free watering.
